The model I’ve built, Ontogenic Coaching, while retaining much of my earlier work, the MythoSelf Process, is a radical departure from traditional, thought-based coaching models. Rather than focusing on problem-solving, behavioral change, or cognitive strategies, it returns the individual to their pre-narrative self—the Generative Self, accessed through pure, unfiltered being.

This is what is known as a first-order ontological stance. By tuning into signal as the source of identity and action, Ontogenic Coaching dissolves the need for intervention and facilitates a profound state of radical clarity, where life flows effortlessly from coherence instead of compensation.I’m going to continue this with providing you with some background about the fundamental idea behind Ontogenic Coaching, i.e., ontogenesis, and then speak to how it shows up in the model and how you can access and apply it.

A PERSONAL INTRODUCTION:

Let’s start with an update to my thirty-five years working with clients. Back when I began studying and beginning this work with clientsI didn’t use the word “coaching” because almost no one did. For all intents and purposes, while coaching … life coaching, personal coaching, business coaching, spiritual coaching … every flavor and texture of coaching out there today was about to explode on the personal and professional development scene, the idea of calling what we were doing “coaching” was still nascent.
